The eternal flame of hope

As this year draws to a close, here is to reminding mankind that no matter how abstruse this pandemic was, there was a flame of hope and benevolence that kept us alive , reignited our quest towards brighter days..

When life was too rapid and perspicuous,

The world was suddenly swept; making space-time rankle and ambiguous

All activity pellucid with uncertain caveats

And bleakness surmounting with little resources for combats

Those chirpy, blithe and boisterous kids, excited for frolic at school

Were left reticent, to the four walls of their room to drool

Those impoverished and agonized labourers who toil from place to place

Were forced to retreat into poverty ; enervating with unemployment in race

Beautiful cities that were seraphic for ethereal sunsets

Turned into penchant states to house the ailing, bury the dead; a melancholic offset

Panoptic footpaths and gardens, home to bonsais and roses

Were left uncouth, unkempt like ruptured watering hoses

Yet humanity was always too kind, benevolent and hopeful

The angels in the front line of the battle always inspired the doleful

The philanthropists who never chided from donating

Workers in labs and pharmas that never stopped operating

When posterity seemed in denigration of life

It was the hope, the gratitude that kept us alive

For pain was real, but so is benevolence

That makes an eternal fountain of invigorating hope; drowning all the malevolence…
